More Good News for TCM and Acupuncture
Just recently Chinese Medicine, or more specifically Acupuncture was highlighted on national TV.
The first airing was on Oprah. Jan. 17th Oprah had a show called "Ask Dr. Christiane Northrup", a internationally well known Dr. who is a leading proponent of medicine and healing that acknowledges the unity of the mind and body. Very similar to what Chinese Medicine is about. She has also authored several books; "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom", "The Wisdom of Menopause" and "Mother Daughter Wisdom". Anyway, her comments were:
***********
'Other than a low-glycemic diet, Dr. Northrup has one other recommendation for thinning hair. "Acupuncture can be very, very helpful for it," she says.'
' Jill can work on getting some of her sex drive back by practicing self-cultivation, Dr. Northrup says. Another exercise that can help her get it back is called chi kung. "Chi kung is where you use your mind to increase energy flow to the body," she says.'
Isn't it great to see a Western MD endorsing Qi Gong (yes it's the same as Chi Kung but using the Pinyin spelling of mainland China) and Acupuncture?
The next showing was on the TodayShow (msnbc), where they were doing a special on Alternative Treatments, and one of the show's staff received an acupuncture treatment during the show.
The only problem I have with how Chinese Medicine is portrayed is that everyone always goes with what is the most common thing, Acupuncture, and doesn't really talk about that Acupuncture is just one part of the whole of Chinese Medicine. Oh well, that's just one of my goals of getting changed.
Ok, that's it for today, have a Superfantastic Day!
